Day Thirty Two

MY MASTER BEDROOM IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Yes.  That many exclamation points are necessary.)

The husband and I came home after work today to some very exciting changes.  The bedroom is finally done.  The furniture had been deplastic'd and the ram board was missing from the floor in and outside of the bedroom.  The contractors were finally done in the space!  We made a snap decision and started cleaning.  Everything needed to be dusted, vacuumed, redusted, and mopped, but we are finally going to sleep in our own bed again tonight.  I am going to leave a note of caution to anyone who decides to enter there tomorrow so they don't mess it up.  I hate cleaning, and I don't want to have to deep clean that room again any time soon.

At dinner, the husband and I were discussing how much larger the room seems.  We are divided on whether or not it was worth this wait.  At this point, all it needs is a little primer and a little paint and it's finished completely.

How pretty!
Oh mattress, how I have missed you.
(We vacated so quickly, that I left all the bedding on it, and after all it's been through, it needed a good washing.)

The dresser is in its new "old" home.  Flat on the floor, no pedestal to set on.

The kitchen is fully plumbed now too.  With the granite came the sink, and so they ran all of the water and the drain to the sink and dishwasher.  I thought it was nice not having to do the dishes in the upstairs sink anymore, but man, I'm listening to our new dishwasher go and it is nice.

View from the dishwashing position.  This is the coolest faucet.  It pulls out to wash the little nooks of the sink; it has a different sprayer...I think I left this detail up to the head contractor.  He did well with it.

Here's a shot from the side.  The sink has this draining thing on the bottom.  It's really nice--keeps your dishes off the bottom of the sink, let's 'em dry quicker.  And there's a basket in the drain that catches all the stuff you don't want going down there.  That's a great design too.
There was a little snafu with the dishwasher.  One of the tracks was a little messed up, and I saw a note saying so.  I looked at it and tried to fix it, but it was still wonky, so I called GE to schedule service, thinking that this was the end of the world and I needed fixed ASAP.  (Honestly, I was pretty calm because I was so pumped about having a kitchen sink to do dishes in that I didn't mind having to wait a week for service to come out).  But the husband came home, tinkered, and fixed the problem.  He's handy.  I think I'll keep him.

The dishwasher is just as high tech as the fridge.  It sings to you when it's done with its cycle.  To think, I almost went a whole extra week washing by dishes by hand.  Thank goodness for the husband.
So in celebration, I've been baking (really it's for school, but I can bake in my own kitchen--celebration is called for).

The best part about baking now?  Not having to wash the numerous dishes by hand in the upstairs bathroom.

  1. Sorry about the late post. I had this mostly written before dinner, but I lost it and needed to start over.
